Bead Block

Indications for Use

Bead Block microspheres are intended to be used for the embolization of hypervascular tumours, including uterine fibroids (UFE) and arteriovenous malformations (AVMs). Bead Block microspheres are also intended for embolization of prostatic arteries (PAE) for symptomatic benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).

Description

Bead Block is a permanent intravascular implant consisting of preformed, soft, compressible, biocompatible, hydrophilic, non-resorbable, precisely calibrated microspheres made from a macromer derived from polyvinyl alcohol (PVA). The microspheres are approximately 90-95% water and compressible to 30% by diameter. They are dyed blue for visualization, supplied sterile in 1ml or 2ml volumes in 20ml syringes suspended in phosphate buffered saline, and delivered via microcatheters to occlude vessels and block blood flow to target tissue.
